I am a new to Chrome - barely used for a week. It looks to be useful. But I didn't find the the so-useful 'Work offline' feature on IE/Firefox (File-> 'Work Offline')?
The whole idea of having a new browser is good. But it will take some time to adjust to DIFFERENT look&feel than a standard windows application. Why do you need to have a deviated window than the standard Windows window? On Windows XP, we have Appearances Themes which can be applied system-wide, so that a user can set a look&feel he/she likes more. Complying to a standard look&feel makes life easier I believe. Features like performance, ease of use, lightwightedness, work offline, saving in different formats... are some of the features which would makes a software successful. |

I don't see what the point of Work Offline does. If your browser needs internet to view, then why do they have a word offline feature. Maybe it is because i have never used it but someone please tell me.

For ADSL or other kind of fast connection it's probably not very useful, but for dial-up, you can connect, browse quickly all the pages you want and then disconnect and review the sites offline from the cache, this way you keep your phone line free (and save some money too), among other things. |

Google probably thinks no-one uses dial-up anymore. I mean, they took out options like image disabling and stuff (though even if I had a good connection, I'd have reasons for disabling images on certain sites).

Google does work offline, only you cannot force it, you have to be disconnected. Then, you can check sites in historial, but if you are connected browsing a site, jump to another, and want to put-it offline to go back and not reloading the previous site, there's currently no way to do it AFAIK.
The ability is there, for in the command line switches there's a way to put Chrome in record mode and then launch it in playback mode, however such an option has not been included in the GUI for easy use. Same thing happens with disabling images, the ability is there (as can be sen from command lines again), it just hasn't been included in the GUI. Oviously, when you are offline you cannot interact with sites, cannot post, etc. But working offline is still an important function IMHO. Which is why every other browser has it. |
